Hæresiarchs of Dis

Exegesis

Passeth Now the Mantle of Dawn.
The tune of an incantation, a significant cry, the mien of the operator; these have a natural leading power over the soul upon which they are directed, drawing it with the force of mournful patterns or tragic sounds - for it is the reasonless soul, not the will or wisdom, that is beguiled by music, a form of sorcery which raises no question.

Henceforth the ideal that is Hæresiarchs of Dis came into being in the late twentieth century through the perversity of Cernunnos. Misanthropic principles were given form, that humanity as a whole is inherently improper, resulting in a cacophony of wantonness, a direct retaliation against morality and stagnation. Passeth now the mantle of dawn so that all may rest their weight. Consummatum Est. Hæresiarchs of Dis is a manifestation of hate.

Overture is Cernunnos’ most recent creation. Being an exploration into the dark recesses of Cernunnos’ psyche, and facilitated through the medium of Black Metal, Overture invokes satanic passages, suites of orchestrated divergence, and operatic leitmotifs. The result is a symphonic sweep of blasphemy and melancholy.

From Whence it Came...
Hæresiarchs of Dis is a one man Black Metal project from the San Francisco Bay Area, USA. Formed by Cernunnos, the band produces extreme metal bearing avant-garde, ambient, and melodic elements. Imagery and lyrical content are derived from misanthropic and anti-Christian ideologies with undercurrents of Indo-European mythology.

Initially the concept arose in the early nineties through an exploration of Cernunnos’, at one time Lord Astaroth, expression of sound, illustration, and writing inspired by the music-related satanic motifs of old school metal bands. Cernuunos notes early influences Mercyful Fate and Celtic Frost. Later it coallesed into a band named Dis. Several practice recordings were made in the mid nineties under different names including Walls of Dis, Malebolgia of Dis, and Seven Darks of Dis. Cernunnos later released this material in a very limited number of CDR demos in 2006.

In the early twenty first century Cernunnos expanded on the original music endeavor recruiting his long time musical cohort Viridis Vir for additional samples and programming, and Gilles de Rais for accordion. The Hæresiarchs of Dis debut, composed, instrumented and produced by Cernunnos, was released in May 2008 through Toadstool Enterprises under the title “Overture.” The music has been described as epic underground USBM with eclectic and atmospheric parts akin to Leviathan musing (mid-era) Emperor.
