The Korthian Valley

The Korthian Valley lies some 400 miles due south of the Northern Ridge, in a warmer climate close to Man's Domain and the Dead Expanse.

Long ago the Dwarf and Elf people were the rulers of the world, and their kingdoms spread far across the face of The One Land. But even at the height of their civilizations when they roamed freely, their greatest concentrations lay in the mountains of the north for the Dwarves and the forest regions further south for the Elves.

During the reign of King Raath Forn'gom of the Northern Ridge and King Nigort of Hagaz'kurim, many outposts and stations were constructed over a period of several centuries through out the region. One such station was south of the Sinking Crags and the Old Mountains in the Korthian Valley. This outpost, through the decline of war, became an observatory and watch tower--mainly in part to keep tabs on the young race of Men.

Later, the Dwarven Warlord Grattmir would lead a group of survivors from the attack on the Northern Ridge Kingdom to take up residence in the old Korth outpost. Grattmir would rebuild the station into one of the ages greatest strongholds: the Korthian Hold.

At the most Northeastern edge of the Korthain Valley, where the Great Wood runs up into the mountain, lies a narrow passage into the Great Flatlands called the Gimenez Pass.

The northern mountain range of the Korthian Valley is a ominous grouping of dark peaks of basalt and raw earth. Called Gimenez, this mineral rich area is home to the Gimenez Miners--a small tribe of Dwarves who commence in regular trade with peoples from outside the valley who find the rich ore that Gimenez houses too treacherous to obtain. Man believes the mountains cursed.

With great mountains completely cutting off the Korthian Valley to the east, north and west, the narrow Gimenez passage provides a safe trail into or out of the valley.

This pass becomes the the passage way for the Goblin invasion of the Korthian Valley in the First Tale of Krae.

Between the Gimenez peaks and the Korth mountains lies a passage in and out of the valley. The Washed Road is a pathway into the Motes of Mist, a marsh-like area of heavy foliage and tall trees. Long ago regular trade was condensed along this passage, and a roadway arose.
